Science, technology and innovation (STI) are increasingly being used as key drivers of economic growth and competitiveness and can play an important role in supporting the green and digital transitions by developing new products, services and processes. Faced with long-term brain drain and low public sector human and financial capacities to support STI, the Western Balkan economies face unique challenges in making use of their STI potential.
