Tourism Policy

The Western Balkans' emergence as a rapidly growing tourist destination is quite significant for the region's economic development. With double-digit increases in tourist arrivals and overnight stays, tourism emerges as a vital sector driving these economies. The surge in tourism not only boosts earnings from travel and related services but also triggers significant cultural shifts across various aspects of society, while also driving the expansion of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and exports, highlighting its far-reaching impact on the economy. As a result, there is a pressing need to update and adjust policies and frameworks to better align with the evolving dynamics of the tourism sector.
