Well-developed and well-functioning transport networks are essential for economic competitiveness as they enable the movement of people and goods and are key for connectivity between economies. Transport is also a major contributor to carbon emissions, making its decarbonisation necessary to reach climate targets. In order to maximise their regional connectivity potential, the Western Balkan economies need to focus their efforts on developing efficient, competitive and sustainable transport systems.
