North Macedonia

North Macedonia made mixed progress since Competitiveness Outlook (CO) 2021, advancing in seven of the 15 policy dimensions, regressing in five and stagnating in three. North Macedonia experienced the strongest score increases in the areas of agriculture and tourism policies and access to finance. North Macedonia is outperforming the Western Balkans (WB6) average across seven policy dimensions, with three areas, transport, tourism, and digital society policies lagging behind. Moreover, the economy positions itself amongst regional leaders with the highest score in three areas: trade, tax, and energy policies.
